The FUZZ FACE, believed to have been introduced in 1966, initially featured the renowned Germanium transistors. Around '67 and '68, a scarce mixture of NKT275 transistors began to emerge. Eventually, these were replaced by silicon transistors.

The limited-run FUZZ FACE with the Germanium transistor has become the stuff of legends. Over the years, many manufacturers have tried to replicate its iconic circuitry based on the original designs. However, the challenge has always been finding a reliable unit. Even if the model numbers matched, the actual measurements varied wildly, making it challenging to match. Coupled with the high price tag, ensuring optimal matching before selling became a daunting task.

I, personally, have been captivated by the FUZZ FACE. From vintage models of '66 and '67 to the 90s and current iterations, I've tested countless versions. Even the renowned Analogman, famous for their SUN FACE, found it challenging to source the NKT275. Their sought-after NKT275 version of SUN FACE has become a rare gem, now fetching prices in the hundreds of thousands.

While the music industry continues its digital evolution and digital simulators become increasingly realistic, one might wonder: why pursue analog FUZZ? The answer lies in the depth, dynamics, and expressiveness that only an analog pedal can offer. Those who've experienced genuine sound understand the exhilaration every note can bring.

Driven by this aspiration, we embarked on our development journey. In our development process, we benchmarked against the 1968-made Fuzz Face, making strides to adapt and improve for today's musical environment. This led to the birth of Swag Face.

The NKT275 we utilize is a product of the 1970s. Its production has since been discontinued, making it a rare find. Once gone, it may never be acquired again.

1966年に登場したと言われているFUZZ FACE

Germanium transistorは67年68年と少量のNTK275が混在している程度で

その後はsilicon transistorに変わっていきます。

数回のロッドでしか作られなかったGermanium transistorを搭載した

FUZZ FACEは今も語り継がれ、多くのメーカーが

当時の回路数値を元に再現したペダルを販売してきました。

しかし、実情は使える様な筐体を見つけるのは難しいのは、やはり

当時と同じく品番は同じでも計測すると数値はまばらでマッチングしにくく
価格も高価な事から、数多く揃え最適なマッチングが行えたものだけ
販売する事は非常に難しいことが原因です。

そんな状況の中ですがCrazy Rock'n'roll Effecterでは

設立当初から長年ずっと研究し続け貴重なNKT275を
大量に確保し続けたことにより、個体差少なく納得のサウンドを
出力するFuzz Pedalを生産できるようになりました。​

SUN FACEで有名なアナログマンでさえ
NKT275の入手が困難になりSUN FACEの
大人気NKT275バージョンは、廃盤となり
今や中古相場では数十万円という価格になりました。

デジタルシミュレーターもリアルさを増し便利ですが

何故アナログのFUZZを作るのか。

それはデジタルでは再現し切れない

深みやダイナミクスによる表現力が
アナログペダルにはあるからです。
